Buddle is a Sport England, National Lottery funded, programme designed to provide free support and guidance for organisations delivering sport and physical activity. It has a wide range of resources available on key topics such as generating income, good governance, creating inclusive, welcoming and enjoyable experiences and attracting new people.

From blogs and handy checklists to guidance videos and workshops, Buddle’s free platform helps organisations overcome challenges and make the most of grassroots sport and physical activity.

Buddle offers resources to help sector professionals

Stephanie Mallender, Sporting Systems Team at Sport England said:

“Buddle is Sport England’s universal offer for clubs and community organisations and the workforce that supports them. Buddle provides valuable support, guidance and practical resources to help organisations, clubs and community groups strengthen the way they operate and support their communities. Through accessible tools and expert guidance, Buddle empowers individuals and organisations to build more sustainable, inclusive and effective environments for participants, volunteers and staff alike.”

Take your organisation’s pulse

Buddle’s free offer includes access to their health check tool. It’s been developed to help organisations to understand where they are at, provide a safe environment and meet their legal requirements. As a quick self-assessment tool, it provides a series of questions designed to help you understand your strengths and identify areas for development.

The questions help you to check your current processes across five key areas that connect to some of the support available on Buddle:

  • Getting organised – governing and leading your organisationSafety, welfare and wellbeing – looking out for yourself and others
Use the questions to consider how your organisation can function better
  • Money matters – income, spending and funding
  • Getting help from people – working with volunteers and the professional workforce
  • Facilities and spaces – finding, using and developing suitable facilities and spaces

After completing the tool, you’ll get a report outlining your answers and directing you to further Buddle resources.

“Buddle’s health check tool can provide CIMSPA members and partners with a practical and accessible way to assess the health of their clubs, organisations and community activities.

By helping organisations to identify strengths, highlight areas for improvement and access tailored guidance and resources, the tool supports organisations in creating safer, more sustainable and more inclusive environments.”
